Welcome to Ukubona Africa Tours!
Ukubona is the Xhosa word for ‘to see’ - and my wish is that you see and experience the Southern part of Africa during your stay in this beautiful country. As your personal tourist guide, Jasmin Johnson would like to assist you by compiling individual tours according to your personal tastes and expectations.

Jasmin with women from Empowerment Project in Mfuleni |
In 1996, just two years after the country’s first democratic elections, I came to South Africa as a tourist myself. Soon, my love for the city itself (and for my South African husband, of course) turned Cape Town into my second home.
It is my pleasure to now share with you the legendary scenic beauty of the Western Cape and other parts of South Africa.
Through my sporting, social and humanitarian involvement, I have developed a particular interest in the vibrant people of the townships, where true African culture exists. I was welcomed there with open arms while helping to build houses with a local NGO and made livelong friends. It is this African spontaneity that I would like to share with you.
All tours will be individually compiled to meet your wishes, expectations and requirements and be conducted as private tours. Some of the highlights are mentioned below to give you an insight into the variety and diversity of possible tours
Cape Town City Tour
Orientation of the city, Table Mountain (ascent by cable car is weather permitting), drive to Signal Hill for spectacular views, Parliament buildings, Company’s Garden right in the city centre, the Castle of Good Hope, City Hall and the Parade, Green Market Square, the colourful Bo-Kaap, drive along the most central beaches of Camps Bay and Clifton, the V&A Waterfront and a visit to Robben Island. |

Franschhoek is a beautiful little town, set among the vineyards of the lovely valley, and draws its prosperity from the surrounding wine and fruit farms. Stunning and picturesque drive through the wine yards, mountains and valleys. |

Whale Tour
Whale watching is seasonal (best times: September to beginning of December), but this tour offers many more attractions than just the whales. Drive on the scenic coastal road along False Bay through Gordon’s Bay, Rooiels, Pringle Bay, Betty’s Bay and Kleinmond to Hermanus. A visit to the Harold Porter Botanical Garden will give some insight into the Cape’s typical and unique fynbos vegetation. Hermanus offers some of the world’s best land based opportunities to watch whales during the whale season. On the journey back we pass through the fruit regions of Elgin/Grabouw, and should be able to see Cape Town in 40km distance on a clear day from Sir Lowry’s Pass. |
